Round Table on "Doing Business in Latin America" with Legal500

Asia, and China in particular, will play a crucial role in the further development of Latin America and the economies of the Pacific Alliance. Affinitas will therefore be hosting a Round Table, in cooperation with The Legal 500 (Legalease), on “Doing Business in Latin America”, to be held in Beijing, PRC on 18 September 2019.

This invitation-only event will provide a timely occasion to discuss business opportunities, regulatory frameworks and legal solutions for foreign direct investment in Latin America. The Affinitas alliance has coordinated several major inbound investments out of China and East Asia more broadly, and will share such experience with potential investors and GC’s from the region.

Our member firms will be represented by Emilio Vasquez (Barros & Errázuriz – Chile), Patricia Arrázola-Bustillo (Gómez-Pinzón – Colombia), Horacio M. De Uriarte (Mijares, Angoitia, Cortes y Fuentes, S.C. – Mexico), and Luis Marcelo De Bernardis (Miranda & Amado – Peru).

For more information, please contact Milagros García of Affinitas, and James Wood of Legal500.

All four Affinitas’ member firms included in Latin Lawyer Elite 2019

Latin Lawyer has published its Latin Lawyer 250 analysis for 2019, including its more selective Latin Lawyer Elite group of Firms, which consists of only 42 law firms in the region. Latin Lawyer Elite firms stand above their peers for the attention they give to building strong institutions capable of standing the test of time. Affinitas is delighted to see all four of its member firms form part of this top echelon. No other international firm, network or alliance managed to achieve this result across the countries of the Pacific Alliance. Latin Laywer Elite thus confirms Affinitas’ unique positioning in the region.

In a related article published by Latin Lawyer, Affinitas’ Colombian member firm Gómez-Pinzón was lauded for its approach to leadership and partner succession, highlighting its “Future Leaders” programme that offers training in business and soft skills. Gómez-Pinzón’s managing partner José Luis Suarez is quoted on how the firm tries to involve their future leaders as early as possible in the actual business of a firm, “because it’s very important they understand that to become a partner is to be more than just a good lawyer”.
