Barros & Errázuriz launches a New York City office

We are very pleased to share that Barros & Errázuriz Abogados, our Chilean firm, has decided to open a representative office in New York, United States, starting in the last quarter of this year, becoming the first Chilean law firm to take this important step in the U.S. city.

This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to support our clients, meet their needs in the development of their activities, and provide them with excellent service. The New York office will allow us to get closer to our clients and to the extensive network of professional, business, and development relationships we maintain in this city and throughout the United States, serving as a link for national and foreign entrepreneurs in the support required for their operations within and outside of Chile.

Alejandro Linares Cantillo returns to Gómez-Pinzón

Alejandro Linares, former Justice of the Colombian Constitutional Court, rejoins the group of partners of the firm to dedicate himself mainly to strategic advice in international business transactions and transnational litigation and arbitration.

Alejandro’s return brings a wealth of experience and strategic insights, bolstered by his deep understanding of both the private and public sectors. Additionally, Alejandro’s management of complex matters and mentoring capabilities will significantly enhance the firm’s strategic initiatives. Alejandro’s distinguished career includes his recent eight-year tenure as a Justice of Colombia’s Constitutional Court, in which he also served as chief justice, where he was instrumental in defending the rule of law and democratic institutions in our country . He also served as Legal Vice-President and general counsel of Ecopetrol, the Colombian national oil company. This public sector experience, coupled with his previous work as a partner at the law firm for twenty years, allows him to bring a unique perspective to Gómez-Pinzón. His role at the firm will focus on providing strategic advice in international transactions, transnational litigation and arbitration, leveraging his deep understanding of international business law, both in civil and common law jurisdictions.

Alejandro’s return brings a unique combination of business judgment, public sector insight, and dedication to public interest matters. His strategic vision in ESG issues and risk mitigation complements the firm’s mission to contribute to the development of the legal market in Colombia and uphold excellence in transnational law practice.
