New appointments to Affinitas' Steering Committee

Affinitas, a regional team of four leading law firms in Latin America, has appointed Natalia García, partner at Gómez-Pinzón (Colombia), and Lorenza Langarica, partner at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes (Mexico), to its Steering Committee effective February 21, 2024.

These appointments reflect Affinitas’ commitment to consolidating its management team with diverse talent and solid experience to continue providing its clients with comprehensive and high-quality legal services.

Natalia García is a lawyer with over 20 years of experience, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. She has led successful negotiations in various sectors, including telecommunications, infrastructure, finance, technology, and entertainment nationally and internationally. Additionally, she has extensive experience in corporate and project finance, providing advice to both debtors and sponsors.

“My objectives with this appointment are to contribute to Affinitas’ positioning strategy as a leading alliance in Latin America, and for that affinity that characterizes us to permeate at all levels and practice groups of the 4 firms that comprise it, as well as to enhance it to its fullest potential,” highlighted Natalia.

On the other hand, Lorenza Langarica, who joined Mijares in 1998 and was appointed partner in 2008, has played a fundamental role in a wide range of legal transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate advisory, and participation in many cross-border operations. Additionally, she has represented various clients with significant real estate assets in obtaining financing and in the hotel industry’s legal and regulatory aspects.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to participate in the Steering Committee of Affinitas and to continue its work as a benchmark in Latin America,” expressed Lorenza.

Natalia and Lorenza will replace Ricardo Fandiño, partner at Gómez-Pinzón, and Enrique Ramírez, partner at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes, respectively. Affinitas wishes them both the greatest success in their new responsibilities and expresses its gratitude to Ricardo and Enrique for their invaluable contribution as members of its Steering Committee over these years.

Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes announces the appointment of new Managing Partners

Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes, S.C. is one of the most innovative leading law firms in the Mexican market, having been so for the past 30 years. In this context, with the firm objective of achieving sustainable development within the Firm and strengthening its governance structure for the benefit of its clients, collaborators, and future generations, they announce that as of January 1st, 2024, the partners of the Firm have appointed Francisco Fuentes Ostos and Horacio de Uriarte Flores as Managing Partners of MACF. The aforementioned appointments will have a duration of three years and their members may be re-elected for an additional period.

The Managing Partners will be responsible for defining the strategy, overseeing compliance with its internal values and policies, and representing the Firm externally and internally.

Additionally, they will work closely with the Management Committee, which will be responsible for implementing the strategy, coordinating the practice areas, overseeing the operational, financial, and administrative management of the Firm, as well as developing and monitoring the organization’s goals and objectives.

In MACF’s international efforts, the Managing Partners will be supported by the partners who are members of the Executive Committee of Affinitas, our strategic alliance with leading firms in Colombia, Chile, and Peru.

Furthermore, as part of the corporate governance, the Management Committee will have various Special Committees to support it in addressing specialized issues such as the Pro Bono Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Systems Committee, among others.
