The project consists of a public-private partnership between the state-owned company Codelco, through its subsidiary Salar de Maricunga SpA, and interested private parties, for the exploration, exploitation, and processing of lithium deposits in the Maricunga salt flat and its surroundings, located in the Atacama Region. The project is developed in the context of the so-called “National Lithium Strategy,” which aims to promote the development of the lithium industry in Chile.
The project consists of a public-private partnership between the National Mining Company (ENAMI), through its subsidiary ENAMI Litio SpA, and interested private parties, for the exploration, exploitation, and processing of lithium deposits in the Aguilar, La Isla, and Salar Grande salt flats, all located in the Atacama Region. The project is developed in the context of the so-called “National Lithium Strategy,” which aims to promote the development of the lithium industry in Chile.
The project involves the optimization of the operations and processes for sulfurized ore at the Mantoverde mining site, increasing the processing capacity of this ore in the concentrator plant line from an average of 11.4 Mt/year to an average of 16.35 Mt/year. Additionally, the project aims to produce an estimated average of 2,000 t/year of cobalt in the form of cobalt hydroxide or cobalt cathodes, using flotation from the tailings of the existing concentrator plant at the Mantoverde mining site.
