He has extensive experience resolving tax disputes with federal and local tax authorities regarding tax audit procedures and proceedings that involves the filing of means of defense against the resolutions issued by the tax authorities or applicable tax laws. He has participated on different projects assisting multinational clients in a broad range of industries, including the automotive, energy, consumer, among others.

Paula Pérez

Paula, senior associate at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes, is specialized in environmental law with more than thirteen years of experience in that practice. She has a comprehensive vision of environmental, administrative and regulatory matters since she has worked in both, public and private sectors.

Paula has specialized in providing advice on compliance with legal obligations regarding environmental impact, concessions in the Mexican federal maritime land area, water, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, soil pollution, environmental risk, forestry and land use changes, sanitary and labor health and safety, urban development and other regulatory matters. She has participated in multiple environmental audits for clients related to different industries, such as renewable energy, hydrocarbon, food and beverages producers, forestry and paper, chemistry, real estate and construction, consumer product manufacturing, tobacco, pharmaceutical and tourism, among others.

Likewise, she has experience in litigation and administrative matters before act of Environmental authorities (Federal, State and Local). Paula has particularly worked with the environmental liability system entered into forced with the Federal Law of Environmental Liability.

Elian Ávila

Elian, senior associate at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes, has represented many clients of the firm in amparo proceedings, particularly in administrative matters, in federal and local administrative proceedings before data protection, administrative, financial, energy, tax, environmental, consumer protection and aviation authorities, as well as in civil and commercial general proceedings, including bankruptcy proceedings.

Additionally, in antitrust transactions, she has participated in some of the most important cases carried out by the Firm, representing clients in all stages of the proceedings before IFETEL and COFECE. She has also been involved in investigations and immunity programs. She has challenged sanctions for alleged monopolistic practices and prohibited concentrations, obtaining favorable results.

In data protection, she has extensive knowledge and experience, including advising national and international organizations and international law firms on matters as diverse as privacy compliance, including the preparation of privacy notices, policies and procedures, development of ARCO rights request; handling data breaches; national and international data transfers and day to day data protection handling, including employee and sensitive data; as well as handling procedures before the INAI and challenging sanctions.
